Chris & Fred's Baby Shower Dessert Bar

October 24 2010
One dessert is never enough, so Chris and Fred opted for a dessert bar instead of a cake. A fun, and diplomatic way to have something sweet for everyone's taste. So, for this co-ed baby shower, a dessert bar and custom cookie favors were both on order. Chris and Fred were so sweet, and easy to work with - they knew exactly what they wanted. We ended up with a great selection of small desserts, so that their guests could try more than one, and not feel guilty about it. And as if that wasn't enough, they got a perfectly sweet and charming cookie favor to take home too.

The crunchy buttery cookies were decorated with scalloped white fondant, then hand painted to match their invitations, and garnished with sweet, tinted fondant cutouts (for the giraffe's spots, the bird's wing, and the elephant's ear).

For their menu, they decided on,
Chocolate Cupcakes with Marshmallow dipped in Chocolate
Salted Caramel French Macarons
Sable Chocolat with Fleur De Sel
Apple Crisp with Currants, Almond Streusel and Chantilly Cream
Coconut Tapioca with Passionfruit Sauce, Raspberries, Strawberries and Toasted Coconut Shavings

We had so much fun doing this dessert bar, we can't wait to do it again!

Freesia's Bridal Shower Cookie Favors

April 18 2010
When I found out one of my very good friends, Freesia, was getting married, all I could think about was how cute every detail of her wedding would be. Her and her husband, Sam, planned every part of their day to be as personal (and just plain cute) as possible. When her Mom and longtime friends, Kat an Ali decided to throw her Bridal shower, I jumped at the chance to make her favors. I had to do my best to live up to the original charm that we all anticipated her wedding to be.

I used their adorable wedding invitations as inspiration; two lovebirds sitting together on the branch of a tree, their heads nestled together, only separated  to open the invitation, and read the details of their special day.

The cookie favors turned out to be a crunchy, buttery cookie, decorated with fondant and hand-painted details. Their first initials, S & F, couldn't be more perfect for their San Francisco wedding, and I'm so glad I got to be a part of such a memorable day.
